Not a single square is cut out for this quilt. It is all done with a Strip-piecing technique. Come and learn how to piece, cut and sew this quilt. We will be learning accurate ¼’ seaming, rotary cutting, pressing, and opposing seams. You will end up with a quilt that has 1364 squares. We will be making a one-unit block of a Cathedral Windows muslin square then adding the colored pieces. This could be made into a pillow or the beginning of a quilt. Learn an easy way to make a lone star quilt. The first class will discuss how to choose the fabric. You can purchase your fabric that day or buy a kit. With this technique you can make a 70×70 quilt. A smaller quilt can also be made.

Introducing “Pinwheels in My Garden”…

Blocks will be picked up the 1st Saturday or Monday of each month from March 2011 through February 2012. Cost: $40, includes all blocks and sashing. Outer border may be ordered at time of signup for $8. It will be available later for a cost of $10. 2 7/8 yards of backing fabric may be ordered at time of signup for $22.99. ½ yard of binding may also be ordered for $3.99. Order now to guarantee matching fabric. Buy it later at full price, and find your own backing and binding.
*Remember the Rules: If you bring in your completed block on the designated day the next month, you get your new block free. If your block is not finished, or you don’t come in on the right day, you pay $5.

Civil War Mystery Quilt Block of the Month

Begins January 18 and runs for 9 months
This is a beautiful Civil War quilt that is suitable for all skill levels. Cost is $30 for the pattern and 1st month’s block asnd $8 each following month. Pick up the 3rd Monday or following Saturday of every month. How-to instructions will be given at 12:30 p.m. every 3rd Monday.
Watermelon Quilt Block of the Month

Begins January 22 and runs for 5 months
Fun quilt that uses paper-piecing and applique on a pieced background, suitable for the intermediate quilter. This one can be finished and ready to use by summer. $30 for pattern and 1st month’s block and $15 each following month. First class on January 22, then pick up the remaining blocks on the 3rd Friday or Saturday of every month. How-to instructions will be given at 11:30 a.m. every 3rd Friday.
12-Month Block of the Month – Flower Pots

We will be making it in this color scheme:

Begins March 1 and 5 and runs for 12 months.
$40 for the pattern and 1st block. If the block is finished and brought in the following month, you will get the next block free. If the block is not finished, or you are unable to come in on one of the Block of the Month days, there will be a $5 charge for the next block. This beautiful quilt will use piecing and applique. Pick up new blocks on the 1st Saturday or Monday of every month. Tutorial classes will be given at 10:00, 11:30, and 1:00 on those days. *If you fail to pick up your block for two months in a row, you will automatically be dropped from the program.
Turning Twenty Quilt – January 14, 21, & 28 6:30 p.m.

Taught by Kathy Smith, this class is perfect for those who would like to learn to quilt or improve their quilting skills. It will concentrate on the basics of rotary cutting, assembling, and sewing an accurate 1/4″ seam to have a finished quilt that could become a family heirloom! You will need to bring 20 coordinating fat quarters, the Turning Twenty book, a sewing machine, rotary cutter and ruler, and pins. Kits are available. Cost is $30
Rag Quilt – February 4 at 6:30 p.m.
Taught by Sandra McCoy, this ever-popular quilt is easy and fast to make even if you have never sewn before. No need to bind or pay extra for quilting; when you get it sewn together, it is finished! You will need fabric and batting, sewing machine, thread, pins, and scissors, rotary cutter and ruler. You will be able to cut and clip your squares with the Accu-Cut machine. Decide what size you want your quilt and we will help figure out how much fabric and batting you need. Kits are also available. Cost is $15
“Bloom” Wall Hanging – February 11th at 6:30 p.m.

Taught by Amber Johnson, this cute wallhanging is sure to brighten any decor. It will incorporate piecing and machine applique. Perfect project for any skill level. You will need the Stop, Drop, & Roll pattern book, fabric, sewing machine, pins, rotary cutter, ruler, and needles and thread. Kits available on request. Cost is $20.
Underground Railroad Quilt – Monthly starting Feb 3 – 10:00 a.m.

Taught by Kayelene Parrish, this sampler quilt incorporates quilt blocks that were used as signals for the Underground Railroad that helped bring slaves up to the free states. They are pieced blocks. You will need the Underground Railroad book and yardage for either the wall hanging with 6″ squares or the quilt with 12″ squares. Kits are available on request. Cost is $50
Binding Class – February 18 at 6:30 p.m.
Taught by Amber Johnson, this class is a must for anyone who is unsure of how to finish your quilt. Easy techniques will have you binding that quilt with confidence. Cost is $15
